(de)TERMINATING
HOUSE
Los Angeles, CA
2012
This house, generated by an accumulation of linear elements, is an exploration of how lines can be used to serve as a method for defining surface at its most primitive form. Lines as volume, lines as structure, line as enclosure. Lines can also bleed through the ground to define line as landscape. This project investigates how the viewer’s focus can be blurred as the you oscillates between foreground and background, skewing your understanding of space. The single line defines a simple object in front of you, but as you refocus, you experience spatial depth in a series of lines in the background merging, then extracting the components based on their function.
